CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS

Members at annual meeting Sunday November 20th 2011
PREAMBLE
We as directors of the Punjabi Press Club of Canada also known as “PPC” have taken membership into this organization and have also agreed to comply with these rules and regulations.
Our mandate is to serve the needs of our local community and to assist them to integrate in the mainstream society by presenting news and views in Punjabi language. The Punjabi Press Club of Canada is aimed to bring awareness to issues facing the Punjabi Speaking Communities to the mainstream society.
The Punjabi Press Club has originated to serve as a resource to members of the Punjabi speaking communities to bring awareness and nit together their values with the Canadian Values and Beliefs.
ARTICLE 1
NAME AND DOMICILE

The name of this non-profit corporation shall be the “Punjabi Press Club of Canada”, which can

ARTICLE 2
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
Section 1. The main objective of The Punjabi Press Club of Canada is to act as a system and an asset to the members of the Punjabi Press Club, which includes those members in media print, radio, television or internet media in languages that have a specific interest and directly concerning the Punjabi community.
- Promoting and preserving the Canadian Value and creating an understanding of Canada and Canadian Citizenship, with confinement of cultural links with their countries of origin.
- Promoting of multiculturalism and support of multilingual media.
- Organization and assisting of hosting exceptional events projects aimed at enhancing the understanding of Canadian cultural diversity, while maintaining the rules defined in our organizational By-Laws.
- Co-operation with all other organizations and groups in Canada with similar principals and motives in promoting Canadian cultural diversity.
ARTICLE 3
NATURE OF THE ORGANIZATION
Section 1.
Punjabi Press Club of Canada is to operate as a total non-profit organization; none of its Directors will serve their term with the intention of any personal or financial gain, with exception to some out-of-pocket expenses that the director may have to spend throughout their term.
ARTICLE 4
MEMBERSHIP
Section 1. Obligations of Members
All Members Must:
- Members should pay annual fee or any other financial obligation, decided by the general body from time to time.
- Deadline for payment of any given dues is September 30th of each year for year ahead.
- In the absence of membership dues, the membership is automatically suspended.
- Membership renewal for non payment shall be considered, only when management receives a written request, all past dues and further $250 as a renewal fee.
- All Members must uphold the constitution and the By-laws of the Punjabi Press Club.
- Comply with all decisions on every issue discussed and made by the Punjabi Press Club.
- All members must agree to abide by the rules of the Punjabi Press Club and welcome all new comers to the organization with open arms.
- All members of the Club should act in their respected media organization while reporting or writing news articles with higher standard of Journalism.
- All Members should act in the favor of the Club at all times.
- Any member found detrimental to the club or to the community at large will be immediately suspended from the membership by the Management.
- Only general body has the authority to cancel anyone`s membership.
- All Members should protect and help other members of the Club.
ARTICLE 5
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Section 1. Duties of the Board of Directors
- The members of PPC will select/elect coordinator, coordinator assistance and a Treasurer and others from time to time decided by the general body…
- This management will have one year’s term, renewable every year, no later then September 30th of each year.
- All affairs involving the Punjabi Press Club of Canada must be managed by the coordinator and his associates as the organizational structure gives all working powers to the coordinator.
- Board of Directors has authority to engage the organization in anything that is rightfully governed by the laws, while abiding by the laws set out by the Punjabi Press Club.
Section 2. Duties of the Coordinator, Coordinator Assistance & Treasurer.
- Expected to call and chair all meetings of the members and in his absence or any case, the Coordinator Assist. Will call and chair the meetings.
- Must create an agenda with the assistance of the other members of the management for every general members meeting, looking at all issues involving the Punjabi Press Club.
Section 3. Coordinator
Coordinator of the Punjabi Press Club must attend all General Membership meetings; overlook general affairs and business of the Punjabi Press Club. Also Chair meetings if directed to from the Chairman.
Section 4. Coordinator Assistance
The Coordinator Assistance is to act as the secretary of the Coordinator and or as a coordinator in the absence of the Coordinator, including conducting the Coordinator`s duties and exercising the Coordinator’s powers. She/he is also expected to take notes of all meeting, prepare reports for publications and electronics media.
Section 5. Treasurer
The Treasurer must keep all accurate books of the account of the organization. All receipts and disbursements of the organization must be recorded. Also, under the direction of the Management, all monies being deposited and the safe keeping of all disbursement funds must be kept by the treasurer, these records must be presented at all members meetings is asked to in order to share the financial standings of the organization. Alongside these outlined duties, the treasurer must conduct any duties given to him/her by the Coordinator. Treasurer is also give treasurer assist for help.
Section 5. Webmaster
The webmaster should look after PPC website; regularly display members ads and other updates.
